Everything you wanted to ask.
Straight, honest answers — how Silene works, whether it's right for you, safety, comfort, and ordering. No hype, no miracle claims.
01 How it works
What is bone conduction?
Instead of sending sound down your ear canal, Silene sends it as a gentle vibration through the bone just outside your ear — straight to your inner ear. It's the same way you hear your own voice. Your ears stay open the whole time.
How does it help with the ringing?
It uses sound therapy (masking). A soft, tuned tone sits gently alongside the ringing, giving your brain something calm and steady to settle on instead.
The tinnitus isn't silenced — it just stops being the only thing you can hear.
Why is tinnitus worse at night?
When the room goes quiet, your attention locks onto the ringing. That triggers a low-grade alert response — you brace, you monitor, and the sound feels louder. Silene gives that loop a calm, steady thing to focus on instead.
Can I adjust the intensity or mode?
Yes. Silene has adjustable modes and intensity, controlled from the wireless remote. We recommend starting low and finding a level that feels gentle and comfortable.
Why only 15 minutes?
Silene is a short wind-down cue, not an all-night device. A focused 15-minute session helps signal to your body that the day is over. Consistency matters more than length.
Does it block my ears like earbuds?
No. Nothing goes inside your ears. It rests on the bone just outside them, so your ears stay open and you stay aware of the room — no noise blasting all night.
02 Will it work for me
Will Silene cure my tinnitus?
No — and anyone who promises a cure is selling you something. Nothing cures tinnitus. Silene is a relaxation and sound-therapy wind-down that helps change how the night feels, not a treatment.
Will the ringing disappear completely?
It's softened, not silenced. For many people the ringing moves further into the background — it takes up less of the night than it used to.
How soon will I notice anything?
It varies. Many people feel calmer during the first session; for others it takes a couple of weeks of consistent use before bedtime stops feeling like a fight. That's why there's a 30-night trial.
Does it work in a single session?
Some people feel calmer the very first night, but the benefit tends to build with a consistent nightly routine rather than a one-off use.
Will it work if I have hearing loss?
Bone conduction and the open-ear design suit many people with hearing loss or ear sensitivity. That said, Silene is not a hearing aid and isn't a substitute for one.
Will it help with pulsatile tinnitus?
Pulsatile tinnitus (a rhythmic, heartbeat-like sound) should be evaluated by a doctor first, as it can have a specific medical cause. Silene is a wellness wind-down, not a diagnosis or treatment.
What if my tinnitus has a different cause?
Silene works on how you respond to the sound in the evening, not on the underlying cause. For sudden, one-sided, or worsening tinnitus, please see an ENT first.
Why haven't I heard about this from my doctor?
Sound therapy and masking are well-recognised coping approaches for tinnitus. Silene is a consumer wellness device that brings that approach home — it isn't a prescribed medical treatment.
03 Safety
Could it make my tinnitus worse?
Silene uses gentle, adjustable intensity and you always start low, so you're in control. If anything ever feels uncomfortable, stop using it. If you have a specific medical concern, check with your doctor first.
Could it damage my hearing?
It's designed for gentle, comfortable levels — keep the intensity low and comfortable. As with any audio device, avoid unnecessarily high levels.
Will it hurt or feel unpleasant?
No. It's a soft, comfortable sensation, and you set the intensity yourself. It should never feel sharp.
Can I use it with hearing aids?
Yes — because your ears stay open, Silene doesn't block hearing aids. Many people remove their aids at bedtime anyway, which works fine.
Can I use it with a pacemaker or implanted device?
Please consult your doctor before use if you have a pacemaker or any implanted electronic device.
Is it safe during pregnancy, or with epilepsy or heart conditions?
If you are pregnant, or have active epilepsy, a heart condition, or a neurological condition, please speak with a qualified healthcare professional before using Silene.
Can I fall asleep wearing it?
Sessions run for about 15 minutes, so it's designed to help you wind down and drift off — not to be worn all night. Many people take it off once they feel sleepy.
Can I use it every day?
Yes. Nightly use is common and there's no dependency — it's a routine you reach for, not something your body needs.
Is Silene a medical device?
No. Silene is a wellness device designed to support relaxation and sleep — not a medical treatment and not a replacement for professional care. For concerning or sudden symptoms, please see an ENT or your doctor.
04 Comfort & using it
Will it fit me?
Silene is a flexible, one-size open-ear band that rests on the bone just outside your ears. It's built to sit comfortably on a wide range of head sizes.
Is it comfortable with glasses?
Yes. It sits outside the ear and doesn't compete with glasses arms the way over-ear headphones do.
Does it stay in place lying down?
It's just 12 grams with a secure, lightweight band, so it stays put and stays comfortable while you're reclined in bed.
Is it hard to set up?
No — you can set up your first wind-down in under two minutes. A quick-start guide is included in the box.
Why is there a remote?
So you can adjust the intensity and mode without reaching up to the device while you're lying down — small thing, big difference at bedtime.
How long does the battery last, and how do I charge it?
Up to around 10 hours of use per charge — plenty for nightly sessions. It charges over USB-C with the included cable.
Can I travel with it?
Yes — it's lightweight and packs into the included travel pouch. Unfamiliar, quiet hotel rooms are exactly when many people reach for it.
05 Ordering & returns
Why does it cost more than a white-noise app?
An app adds more sound and a glowing screen to your night. Silene is a physical, screen-free ritual you own once — no subscription, no phone by the bed, ears open the whole time.
Can I get the same thing cheaper elsewhere?
What you're paying for is the whole package: quality checks, honest guidance, responsive support, a warranty, and a real 30-night trial — not a cheap listing with no one behind it.
What if it doesn't work for me?
You have 30 nights to try Silene at home. If it isn't making your evenings easier, email us for a full refund — no restocking fees, no fine print.
Who pays return shipping, and is there a warranty?
Silene is covered by a [warranty length] warranty against defects. For trial returns, [state your return-shipping policy]. See our refund policy for full details.
Do you have a subscription?
No. You pay once. No app fees, no subscription, no auto-shipments.
How long is delivery, and are there customs fees?
Shipping is free and tracked; delivery times vary by region. [Add customs note for your target markets.] See our shipping policy.
Will customer support actually respond?
Yes — a real person answers, usually within 24 hours. Email support@trysilene.com.
Still have a question?
If we didn't cover it, ask us directly — we'd rather answer honestly than oversell.
